Viceroy Palm Springs Wedding : Melissa+John

Their friends referred to it as a Korean Soap Opera, a love story that seemed like it could only play out on television. The plot was filled with missed opportunities, false starts on first dates (his choice in frozen yogurt was apparently appalling), and complete with two mothers who knew their children were destined to be together. No, Melissa and John were never going to be together. Someone please write that down.

Years after the mishaps, mistakes and the meddling, John reached out to Melissa when she announced on Facebook she was leaving California for Boston, for good. Before you leave, he wrote in his message, we should meet for dinner. Surrounded by packing boxes and an empty fridge, Melissa agreed on the pretense of scoring a free meal.

That free meal–just days before she departed to Boston–changed the course of her life. On a single date, John swept her off her feet. So much so, he promised to a long-distance relationship and introduced her to his family that night. Years later, Melissa and John promised Forever to each other in front of their family and friends…all who realized never mess with Korean mothers when they set their mind to something.

Melissa and John…you're one of those couples who makes me fall deeper in love with wedding photography. Your trust, your free reign, and your ability to push me to simply be in the moment was powerful. Thank you for loving each other in such a way, you force others to follow suit with open hearts. Much Love and Appreciation… j*

The wedding day was at the Viceroy Palm Springs, complete with lovely little details…

.While I stayed with Melissa while she dressed, JD enjoyed a leisurely afternoon with John as he enjoyed In-N-Out Burger…

The bride and groom opted to see each other before the ceremony and her bridesmaids made sure they didn't miss a single moment of action…

John couldn't have been more excited to marry his best friend…

The bridesmaids love his reaction…

We roamed the premises of the Viceroy Palm Springs and the light was simply gorgeous…

Then it was off the ceremony…

The sun disappeared behind the mountains and provided glorious shade on a hot day in Palm Springs…

Official.

Before it became exceedingly dark, we captured a few more wedding photos in the desert…I love my clients for allowing plenty of time for photos!

Many thanks to Joey Lizotte and Jen Cuhney of Artisan Events for coordinating such a perfect day…I especially loved the mod decor for the wedding reception…

The reception was hosted under the light of the moon and strung Italian lights…so romantic…

The First Dance…

Plenty of amazing toasts led to one heck of a party…

…my point exactly…

I'll end this blog post on this happy note…

Many thanks to the amazing team who brought this wedding to perfection…
