The WORKSHOP : Dallas

After meeting me, a lady once told me that a part of my soul was born in Texas. And I agreed with her. There's something about that state that makes my heart swoon. Maybe it's the culture of self-assuredness, the warm welcomes at every entry, or the big hair. I love it all. What I especially appreciate is the way I've been able to connect with photographers in Texas. It was an absolute honor to teach 20 amazing photographers in Dallas at the Rosewood Crescent Hotel for the last stop of our Workshop on the Road Adventures.

This group of photographers was energetic, fun, and ready for anything I threw at them…and talking for almost 12 hours straight, I threw a ton! They came ready to work and the day flew by in part to their litany of questions and brain picking. I loved it! The day was focused on how to build a brand and market photography services, and I've seen so many of them already implementing things I shared and it's awesome to see them doing so well!

One of my favorite portions of the day during theWORKSHOP is Photographing for Your Brand where I discuss tips, techniques, and light considerations when it comes to shooting. I was more than thrilled to be working with real-life couple, Nathaniel and Loren, who made the shoot extra special with their obvious love for each other…

Many thanks to John Cain Sargent for connecting me with the Rosewood Crescent Hotel (Julian Leaver, you're truly amazing…thank you for making it feel like home!) and being a gracious host in Texas. With his help, we arranged a team of truly stellar creatives and I couldn't be more honored to work with amazing Texas talent!

As we shot along the premises of the Rosewood Crescent Hotel, I made it a point to shoot indoors for a bit…Texas summers do not mess around. Just a few minutes outdoors and my face started to melt. Almost. In the Garden Room, I explained how I leverage natural light and fixed figures in a room (like a piano) and how bodies should fold into each other for natural posing.

I'm really excited to say Loren and Nathaniel are in Mexico this week getting married!! They were kind enough to bestow us with a test run for their big day and I have no doubt Loren will be the most stunning bride on her big day!

“To say we left Jasmine Star's workshop feeling refreshed and eager to improve our business would be an understatement! The day was beautiful (weather, models, environment – I mean c'mon, we were staying at the Rosewood Crescent Hotel in Dallas!), everyone in attendance showed such enthusiasm for learning!”Pinky Promise Photography

I have to take a minute to thank our AMAZING sponsors who came on board to ensure theWORKSHOP was perfect…I'm completely blown away by their support! Many thanks to:

“I just got back from an amazing workshop with the ever so talented Jasmine Star. I never expected to walk away with so much inspiration and determination. I learned a lot about who I am as a photographer and as a person. I can't even describe in words how wonderful this workshop was for me…”Jennifer Cox

I usually shy away from posting portraits, but sometimes the light is right, the couple is in love, and twinkle lights prove that a classic photo can never do you wrong.

“Never is a billion years would I have thought that I would get the opportunity for that workshop to be a Jasmine Star Workshop. The day was filled with love and laughter and an amount of learning I still can't really wrap my brain around.”Meg Cady

My favorite photo from the session…

I'll end with my favorite photo (legit favorite!) of the day. To be surrounded by some of the most incredibly kind, talented, and hard-working photographers was an honor I can't fully express. The questions they asked and the effort they put forth catapulted the day into an unparalleled photo education fest. I am humbled to stand in this industry next to them and appreciative for their genuine love and support.
