The WorkSHOP : February 2015

There are days when I love photography. There are days when I need photography. Then there are days when photography gives me a gift so great I have a hard time putting it into words. Not only am I fortunate to love my clients, be an Orange County wedding photographer alongside my husband, and live my life behind my camera lens…I get to meet and mentor some of the most amazing photographers. Ever.

I started hosting photography workshops in 2010 and five years later I couldn't be more proud to stand with industry peers I can now call friends. Last week I hosted 20 photographers and taught about my business and approach to photography. They were some of the most engaging groups and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for them.

We focused on the Eight Components of Branding a Photography Business, in addition to shooting a bride and groom in bright, midday sun. It's traditionally not the easiest time of the day to shoot, but I walked everyone through tips and tricks I've learned along the way.

Many thanks to Ashley Nicole from Nebraska for capturing this behind the scenes photo…

…and here's what transpired…

I don't think anyone there wanted it to end!!! Being a part of this workshop was one of the best business decisions I have ever made. Jasmine and JD were so great at answering any and all questions, and I learned so, so much! Lindsey Cassidy, Florida

Shooting alongside Jasmine was a life changing experience. Jasmine helped me understand light like I never have before. She helped me find confidence but most importantly, she made me feel extremely uncomfortable and pushed me so far from my comfort zone it was no where in sight. This was something I never knew I needed until it happened. Tracey Photography, Ottawa, Canada

Susana Cristina captured me demonstrating how I wanted the bride to twist and turn with specificity…

…and here's what transpired…

Ashley made a stunning bride…really. The ever lovely Beauty by Melina styled her beauty, and the beautiful dress was provided by Bonny Bridal, accompanied by florals by Sweet Marie Designs

While I was shooting this…

Cassie Madden from Texas was shooting this. She said the nicest things about theWORKSHOP: I can't even begin to describe the number of important genre's and bullets covered in the workshop, considering I took 10 pages of notes. If you're a photographer reading this, on the fence on whether or not take the leap; LEAP. Do it. Go. You won't regret any part of it.

Watching Jasmine pose and shoot this couple just like she would on a wedding day, was an experience I will not be able to get elsewhere. Learning about natural reflectors, camera settings, and getting the couple to look beautiful and natural are all things I cant wait to use at my next wedding! Kandid Kate, Colorado

And here's my FAVORITE photo of the day!!

If you'd like to join us for a future workshop, feel free to sign up for the NEWSLETTER since it's announced there first. Lastly, I'll be hosting a workshop in Amsterdam this April…to register and get more info, you can visit the European Wedding Congress website for all the details!
