Los Angeles Engagement : Abby+Drew

Sitting across from her, Drew was struck by her beauty and quiet confidence. They met at a dinner party and though Abby enjoyed their time together–and thought the feeling was mutual–Drew didn't ask her out. In the following weeks they hung out on a few occasions, but when the end of the evening appeared, Drew jovially said goodbye without walking to her the door or proffering a kiss good night. I thought she just wanted to be FRIENDS, he recounts, shaking his head with a smile. He insists his actions were to protect their friendship and as he says this, Abby grabs his hand as they walk. She laughs and the sun catches behind her loose curls.

Abby took matters into her hands and asked Drew out. Like, on a date date. Together they sat in a small Los Angeles lounge and listened to Shoshana Bean sing her heart out. At the end of the night, Drew walked Abby to her front door…and their story began. Together.

They'll be marrying this October, so we decided to meet in Downtown LA for their engagement session and enjoy a gorgeous winter day in the city.

I've seen Abby grow up. Literally. She's my best friend's little sister and I met her when she was in junior high school. When she contacted me to shoot her wedding, I got teary-eyed because, well, time somehow disappeared in a matter of seconds. Though I wasn't able to shoot her wedding, I'm thrilled to have documented her love. Drew is a wonderful, sweet, and caring man…they're perfect for each other.

One of my favorite things about Drew is his ability to make Abby smile in a matter of seconds…it's beautiful.

I love shooting in Los Angeles. It's gritty and odd, but it's so much fun.

Abby, you're gorgeous. Inside and out.

I'll end on this happy note…what the picture doesn't show is the line of traffic, the graffiti, the stop lights…it simply shows their love. Their perfect love.

Happy Friday!
