Pasadena Engagement : Christin + Brian

They went to college together, but he was the life of the party whereas she deferred to quiet evenings with her boyfriend. Christin and Brian were friends of friends and though their conversations were short, Brian was smitten with her although he never mentioned it since she was in a relationship. They went their separate ways after college, but found themselves reunited amongst friends one night a couple years later.

Brian struck up a conversation with Christin and discovered she was single…but not ready to mingle. Her heart was broken by her college boyfriend and Christin simply needed time to mend. In much better news, she told him she bought a house and was slowing making renovations. Brian was an engineer, so kindly offered his help. New floors, new light fixtures, and a few cans of paint later, Christin took Brian to dinner as a way to say thanks (but no strings attached, of course).

One dinner turned into another…and then another. Soon enough, Brian–and his tools–repaired Christin's new home…and heart. They'll be married this April and I couldn't be happier to be their wedding photographer. We spent the afternoon in Pasadena for engagement photos and this is what transpired…

On a cold night in New York City, Brian and Christin walked hand-in-hand along the Brooklyn bridge. He hoped to propose in the city, but didn't have a specific plan. That is, until the bridge lights pressed themselves against the black sky and sparkled in defiance to the darkness. It was then when he got down on his knee and asked to spend the rest of his life with her.

Shortly thereafter, he bought a t-shirt to commemorate such a great night. He thought it'd be appropriate to bring things full circle by wearing it…and I couldn't agree more!

We roamed the streets and alleys of Pasadena for their engagement session and had so much fun…around every corner is a chance for a special photo…

When I met Christin during our initial consultation, I knew I liked her. Like, kismet match. We are quite similar and if I was ever in doubt, this series of photos is proof that we–clearly–have moves like Beyonce. Obviously.

While fun and silly, Christin can turn up the heat in front of the camera as well…rawr…

Oh, Pasadena, I really, really like you…

Here's an {embarrassing} story: Christin's name is pronounced like Kristin. I knew this. I mean, I met with her a few months ago…I knew this. Except when I first arrived to the engagement session, I pronounced her name like Christine…because, well, that “e” just appeared in my brain and I rolled with it. Ugh. Instead of correcting me, Brian made sure to say CHRIS-TIN a few times in conversation…after melting from mortification, I secretly gave Brian extra cool points in my book. Such a class act!

Many thanks to Kelly Zhang for Christin's amazing hair and makeup…

I'll end on this sweet note…they're such an amazing couple!

Happy Tuesday!
