Domesticity

Earlier this week, JD and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. We spent the day on the Pacific ocean, enjoyed the blue sky overhead, and enjoyed lunch from our favorite sushi restaurant while listening to Miles Davis. We popped a bottle of champagne and toasted to a decade together.

Then we came home to take a nap. OH MY GOD WE ARE GETTING OLD!!!!

Tomorrow we are hosting a dinner for our families as a way to say thanks for their support over the past 10 years. It'll be the first time we're having a group over for a party and I admit I'm a bit nervous.

I feel awkward because wasn't born with the Martha Stewart gene that my mom and sisters possess. They know how to present appetizers and have drinks ready on a tray…I've been known to eat yogurt with a knife (the spoons were dirty) and burn instant rice (true story). I also desperately want to impress my in-laws with my domestic skills, but JD informed me making ice wasn't a culinary treat.

As a result, I've asked a few industry peers to help me plan our anniversary party. Of course I intend to tell our families I did everything myself so they can think-even if for just one day-JD married a wonderfully perfect woman. Who makes great ice.

I can't wait to share photos from the party, but until then, wish me luck as I set drinks on a tray and place knives out for yogurt.
