Give of Yourself

Tonight I just received a great email from my good friend and fabuphotog, Jenna Walker. Together, we’ve been planning an awesome trip for a group of friends to visit Denver and Vail, Colorado. While it’ll be amazing to see old friends and have fun (not to mention make s’mores…isn’t that what people do in the mountains?!), our main thrust is charity work.

Jenna has done a fantastic job connecting with Volunteers of America and set up a myriad of photography related assignments. It feels so good knowing we’ll be able to make an impact in a women’s shelter, a homeless shelter, and foster homes. I’ve always wanted to use my gifts to give back to community, so I can’t describe how thankful I am for this opportunity.

If you’re reading this and want to find a way to give back, be sure to contact Volunteers of America, or simply think of ways you can give of yourself. Contact a local church or community center and become a mentor…if you’re a photographer, give of your talented services to a needy family…if you like to read, contact your local library and volunteer with children of special needs. The sky is the limit! It’s great to live in this beautiful country, so why not give back and brighten someone’s day? I promise, you’ll get more out of it than you can ever imagine.
