A story in six words

During my junior year of high school, I sat in my English Honors class and read something that forever changed my life. After reading Grapes of Wrath, I become smitten with John Steinbeck and Ernest Hemingway found any reason to read his work in and out of class. While I perused a small text book on my teacher's desk, I came across Hemingway's shortest story. It was called a Story in Six Words. It was rumored that Hemingway was challenged to write a story in a single sentence, and has since become the standard to which micro-fiction should aspire. His story is as follows:

For sale: baby shoes, never used.

A week hasn't passed since I read the story that I haven't thought of it. It moved me to tears. It was as if I tasted the intro, plot, protagonist, and conclusion in a single swallow. And I loved it.

Because I firmly believe everyone has a little Hemingway inside their soul, I'm hosting a friendly competition on my blog. The winning blog commentor who writes their own Story in Six Words, will win an entire set of Kubota Photoshop Action Pro Pak. And this isn't just ANY giveaway…Kevin Kubota gave me his personal jump drive of his Photoshop actions for one lucky blog reader! Now, Internet, can you believe just how ridiculous I acted when he gave me such a nice thing?! Uhhh, yeah. I was this awkward blend of Richard Simmons Sweatin'-the-the-Oldies, a Mexican jumping bean, and PeeWee Herman's Large Marge. It was a moment I'd love to soon forget.
