T oday is a gorgeous. Like the kind of days when you roll down your car window and deeply inhale. Sea air, freshly cut grass, and a splash of car exhaust…ahhh, nothing like life in Orange County! ;)
I’m sure plenty of my blog readers are familiar with the Shoot Q Grant, but for those of you who are not, you MUST take the time to check it out! There isn’t any other grant out there for photographers as amazing as this and I am SO incredibly honored to be a part of this project. Joe Buissink, Dawn Davis, Greg Gibson, Laura Novak, and myself are judges for this fabulous grant and I couldn’t be more excited!

FAQ : Point and Shoot Camera
|

O n our way into the grocery store this afternoon, I took a particular notice of my attire. White tank top, jeans, and flip-flops. Pretty much my uniform when I’m chilling out. But what caught my eye was the small pink emblem in the lower corner of my shirt that read: Wicked.
I laughed out loud because I became one of those people…the kind who wear t-shirts of their favorite musical. I officially felt old. When I was a kid in the 80’s, I saw adults donning black shirts with emerald feline eyes emblazed on their chests. Gnarly old folks and their CATS shirts. Weird.
The first time I saw Wicked, I was so enchanted, I wanted to buy a t-shirt. You know, as proof that I was there and flaunt my love for Alphaba. In retrospect, I know this is weird. Just as weird as wearing a black shirt with cat eyes. I know. But at the time, I would die without a tank top.
A tiny tank top that cost $30.00.
You’re crazy. This was JD’s response to my request for the shirt. I gripped his arm in desperation as we passed the clothing vendor and looked all doe-eyed.
On our way into the grocery store this afternoon, I took a particular notice of my attire. Apparently, the whole doe-eyed thing worked. I turned to JD and asked if he remembered buying me the tank top. You mean the night you turned into Veruca Salt?
JD refers to me as Veruca whenever I get my way.
After a few (okay, three!) failed attempts at finding the perfect point-and-shoot camera, I seemingly morphed into Veruca yet again. JD bought me the Canon SD 870IS.

Thus far, I love everything about it, especially the wide-angle capabilities. I’m often asked for a p&s recommendation and after owning the Olympus Stylus 840 and the Canon A640, this camera is easily far superior and worth the extra investment.
But, then again, this is also coming from the girl who couldn’t live without an overpriced tank top and has a husband who succumbs to requests when delivered with large, hopeful eyes ;)
Happy Sunday! |

It happened sometime while I was in Las Vegas during WPPI. And, more than anything, I’m humbled by the interest in my life, work, and passion.
Last week, my blog passed the 1,000,000th visitor…WOO.to.the.HOO!
I seriously couldn’t believe it. Life has changed in so many ways for me and I’m incredibly proud that I can look back at my life less than a year ago (this blog debuted in May 2007) and see how far I’ve come. As a girl, and as a professional photographer.
I want to thank you—all my faithful readers and friends—who visit daily, weekly, or monthly. It means a great deal to me that you share your valuable with me. It is an honor and something I truly cherish.
Thank you.
In honor of this milestone, we're getting dressed and having a night on the town...Polo's even wearing his favorite tie! ;) |

D ani tried setting Devin up with her best friend in high school. She—acting as Canada’s resident cupid—dutifully touted her friend’s beauty, charm and glowing personality. Dani even arranged a double date for them to join her and her then-boyfriend. Everything was going well…until…well, until Dani’s feelings for Devin changed. While she was telling her best friend about Devin’s smile, big heart, and intellect, Dani found herself falling in love with the boy she was supposed to setting up!
Little did Dani know that Devin felt the same way. Many years later, they’re still in love, running a photography business, and living along a beautiful river in Canada. Living the life dreams are made of…together and happily. |

| It's been a long-standing wish of Dani's to own a longboard and skate along the beach...well, that's just what she did! She and Devin bought longboards and spent some time in the Orange County sun along Newport Beach... |

Lauri and Mike : Engagement
|

T hey held each others’ hands as dawn slipped inside the taxi through the lightly frosted windows. Lauri spoke about their wedding and Mike nodded in happy approval—she found the perfect wedding dress (happy nod), they chose their first dance song (happy nod), they were excited for their engagement session on the Las Vegas Strip (slightly happy nod). It’s just that we’re a little nervous for this shoot, Lauri quickly explained. At this, Mike laced his fingers around Lauri’s and gave a little squeeze. His love and devotion for Lauri is evident in the way he listens her to every word. As if they were dipped in honey. He loves her that much.
Mike loves Lauri so much he agreed to have their engagement session begin around 6:45AM. Apparently, words dipped in honey can never be denied ;)
Lauri and Mikey have a totally rad wedding planned for this August in Philadelphia and I couldn’t be more excited to meet their friends and family. Okay, aaaaand try a real Philly Cheese Steak (without the meat of course!). I’m also stoked to run up the same steps Rocky Balboa did…I shall pump my fists with glorious victory! Lauri and Mikey are some of the coolest and sweetest people one could meet and I’m honored to be documenting their wedding day!

| I was able to snap a few frames amidst the piles of junk before getting kicked out! Woohoo! :) |

| We ended the engagement session at The Bellagio Hotel and the morning light was just beautiful! |
