Just Ask Willy

I sat in church and tried to get comfortable. I shifted in my seat, then decided leaning against JD’s shoulder was my best bet. As the associate pastor was delivering announcements, my head rested on JD’s striped shirt and I listened. Things were fine until I heard, …and beginning next Sunday, April 6th…

Then the world stopped on his axis and waited for me to lift my clouded head and blink the confusion from my eyes.

JD was already staring at me, as if he knew I was on the verge of creating a one-girl tornado. He nodded and assured me that, yes, my birthday is this Sunday. Whaaaaaaaaaat?!? Did the Mayans somehow make a mistake in creating their sun calendar? Surely. Surely they did because this girl—THIS GIRL—is not turning 28 years old on Sunday.

No way. Not uh.

JD leaned over and whispered, And the celebration begins… Because I feel one mere day isn’t enough to celebrate my birthday, I enacted a week-long birthday celebration policy. Applicable to all who qualify. Luckily, he qualifies too.

This week has been fabulous, but yesterday took the cake. Literally. And replaced it with a lifetime supply of cookies and cupcakes!

Yesterday I met with my amazing bride, Alicia, to discuss her wedding details and she brought me a box of Sprinkles Cupcakes as an early birthday gift! LOVE her!

Then, when I came home, I saw a box on my doorstep. On the front was inscribed DeLuscious, so I knew it had to be good. My lovely and ever-so-feroche clients Jane and Kevin sent me a box of the most DeLiscious (I feel like I should be saying this with my index finger pointed in the air and shaking my head from side-to-side) cookies ever! LOVE them!

Later that evening, wedding publicist extraordinaire, Rita Hermes arranged for our dogs to have a play date. For dessert, she brought out homemade baklavah and a box of Sprinkles cupcakes! I was on a sugar high!! 😉

Not to be outdone, the dogs received their own Sprinkles canine cupcakes!

So while I somewhat feared my birthday this Sunday, I’m now confident this year is going to be awesome! And in case I ever doubt it, I have enough sweets to prove otherwise. Because, you know, sugar is directly to a person’s happiness.

Just as Willy Wonka.

**UPDATE: I just HAD to follow up this post with a review of the DeLuscious Cookies…they're AMAZING!!! If left to my own devices, I could eat the entire box in a single sitting. People, do yourselves a favor and order yourself a box. Seriously, you'll thank me. And as a way to pay me back for my wonderful endorsement, you can send yours truly another box of cookies!**
