Never Say Never

She called me from the bookstore in a frenzy. There's just SO many magazines, I don't know which few to choose! My sister is in wedding planning mode and, whoa, the world cannot contain the whirlwind that is Bianca when she's on a mission. Her mission? To plan her wedding in…wait for it…four months. Yes, four.

Martha. You have to start with Martha. That's what I tell her. Martha Stewart Wedding Magazine is like the tree from which ideas grow. Yeah, I really talk like this. Sometimes annoy myself. Bianca asks me if I've ever been published in Martha Stewart and I pause. Sigh. No, and it'll likely never happen… She reminds me to never say never. I let it slide. I then tell her what other wedding magazines she should buy, and I hear the ring of the register as we say goodbye.

A couple weeks ago, as we celebrated our birthday (we're twins), she purchased a book as my gift, but wrapped it with pages of MSW Magazine. On a note attached the wrapping, she wrote she believed in me. In my ability to one-day, maybe, who knows get a feature. Of course, I cried. Not because of her kind words, but because of her blind faith. It's because of this faith I had a hard time saying no to shooting her wedding.

So, yeah. I'm shooting her wedding. But not without help…once she finalizes the date and the location of her special day, she can then move forward in choosing my second shooter. I'll be shooting certain portions of the day (like the First Look…duh…she's my sister…OF COURSE she's having a First Look!), details, and other fun things, but I'm pretty sure I'll be camera-less for the ceremony. Okay, and the reception. I look forward to toasting, roasting, and relaxing as her sister…and wedding photographer.
