I f Patience is a virtue, I ain't virtuous. I definitely subscribe to the Veruca Salt mentality (But I want an oompa loompa, daddy, and I want it NOW!), so when things work on their own timeline, I seem to be overtly exasperated.
Let's flashback to 2007: JD contacted the owner of the domain www.JasmineStar.com, who was the manager of a Texas-based band. The site sat dormant for years until that point, but he wasn't willing to let it go unless a hefty price was paid (Internet, it was hefty...like the trash bag).
JD reached out again in 2008, but the owner raised the price even more. It was at the time we moved forward with www.Jasmine-Star.com and decided to let things be because we couldn't afford what he asked.
Let's flash forward to March 2012: I received an email from the owner of the domain...and he was willing to sell www.JasmineStar.com and allowing me to set the price. WHAT?!?!? I quickly contacted the amazing tech support at Showit and they helped me point things where they needed to go to ensure everything was set up correctly (love them!).
All that to say:
1. I still need to work on my patience.
2. I need to start taking a daily vitamin...oops...detour...
3. I FINALLY OWN JASMINESTAR.COM!!! |

Foundation of Love : Styled Wedding Shoot

A little over a week ago I photographed a styled wedding in Seattle, Washington. It was nothing short of splendid due to the amazing people who came together to make it possible. The crew at creativeLIVE invited me to teach an online photography course, which included a live shooting demonstration beautified by a group of selfless individuals who came together for the greater good of the photographic community. It was honor documenting their hard work and talent.

| Once I navigated the wedding detail photos, JD started shooting with me to capture different angles. This was extremely helpful, especially when we were running out of time! His photo is on the left... |
| I loved the clean and classic feel of the wedding cake...and it smelled delicious, too! In other news, JD captured the photo on the right...I'm so appreciative for his perspective and ability to see things outside of what I'm doing. |

W e rushed to beat the dinner rush on Friday night at one of our favorite restaurants, so we dodged casual walkers on Abbot Kinney like puddles in a storm. Wait, stop... I said as we passed a store. Its window was cluttered with hundreds of things that make me happy (books, scented candles, scarves, and notecards), so I begged for a quick detour. Inside the store, I lit incense, I tested hand lotion, tried on a hat, then opted for a new set of stationary. At the register I noticed a silver necklace with two interlocking circles.
Jasmine, you don't need another necklace.
Ooooh, but I love it...
Yes, but you don't need this one.
JD, it reminds me of us though!
A few minutes later, the cashier rang up my stationary and necklace, then whispered I'm so gonna hafta use that line with my boyfriend soon...

I use the Airport Addicted 2.0 camera bag from ThinkTank and I recently got the Airport 4-Sight to see if it'd help transporting our gear (we're traveling quite a bit and I figured the roller bag might help). Friday Randomness : Pain + Inventions

I felt it coming, but continued to push through and pretend it wasn't there. And then...wait for it...wait for it...BAM! My body decided to stop working yesterday and rendered me helpless to a sinus infection. I think the doctor's exact words were, Why did you wait so long to come in when you're in serious pain?
I didn't have the strength to be all, Dude, my dad's a Marine...I've been raised to believe if I'm not missing an appendage or carrying a comrade away from combat in a sweltering Vietnamese jungle, pain is merely a noun used by dramatic wedding photographers.
I have four different medications to deal with my illness, but I'm excited because there's a lot of great things going up next week. HOLLLLLA! Until then, I'll leave you with another installment of Friday Randomness... |

D on't let his good looks deceive you. This fella has the manners of a castaway and a mercurial mood past 10pm. He's as spoiled as the last apple in a big barrel and ignores you when there's good food within a mile radius.
But, dang, he sure knows how to put on a show and make you feel like the luckiest girl in the room. |
