The Anti-Workshop : Day Two
|

Love is just an excuse for people to be completely themselves -- Jesh DeRox
We sat around on the top of a Seattle parking structure late last night and into early this morning. In the center of our circle was a couple pints of ice cream, six spoons, and plenty of philosopical dialogue. Fred Egan, Jessica, Shyla, Marisa, myself and the amazing Jesh DeRox spent time discussing the many layers of art, inspiration, love and the core of the soul. We laughed, debated, and challenged our beliefs and became better people because of it.
The early part of the day was spent in class soaking up inordinate amounts of knowledge and getting inspired by the Boutwell's and John Michael Cooper. And the end of my day culminated with knowledge and inspiration surrounded by good friends.
Everyday I'm learning more about my craft, but--more importantly--about myself. It's amazing.
I'm so happy Marisa brought her camera along to capture such an amazing evening... |

The Anti-Workshop : Day One
|

I just spent the last thirty minutes drafting a lovely blog describing my first day of the workshop and it erased. Like POOF gone. I wish I could write more, but I'm quite exhausted...so I'll just leave some pictures and expound later.
Last night the Cooper's and Boutwell's hosted an Anti Mixer at a bowling alley is was so much fun! I had a blast meeting new people and catching up with old friends. |

| The amazing Chenin totally hooked up my name tag by adding a 'star' at the end of my name...how can I not love that girl?!? ;) |

| I'm rooming with Jessica Claire and Marisa Holmes during the seminar. We arrived to the mixer early to help Jess with her Shootsac set-up, as she was a co-sponsor for the event. We knew the bags were going to fare well here in Seattle, but she sold out entirely! The feedback as been truly amazing and I love supporting such an amazing product. Here's Jess working hard at blowing up her signature pink flamingos... |

| And here's the fabulous Marisa having a little shooting fun in the alley... |

| I'll try to post agan tomorrow about my amazing day...I feel so blessed being here and I'm amazed at all the things I've learned ths far!! |

Brittney and Ryan : Wedding

I bought this home because of this staircase…I always imagined my daughters walking down it on their wedding day and I can't believe it's arrived, Brittney's father nostalgically said as she descended from the second story of their beautiful home. Brittney, no longer the little girl running with her sister up the stairs, just graduated medical school and was marrying the man of her dreams all in the same week. Her father waited until she reached the bottom to gently fasten her Harry Winston necklace and embrace her the way every father should.
Ryan, also coming from his recent medical school graduation, and his family flew from the east coast to enjoy a beautiful Orange County wedding. With the help of Brittney's mother and Walter Nicolas-Beverly Hills coordinator extraordinaire-the day was absolutely stunning at the Hilton Waterfront Resort in Huntington Beach and the details were scrumptious! Brittney and Ryan walked throughout their ballroom greeting guests, swayed to the sounds to the steel drum band together, and kept their fingers interlocked for most of the evening. Good thing they know the medical procedures for separation because it truly appeared that they were attached at the hip! ;)
Brittney and Ryan, thank you for welcoming us into your lives and treating us like friends. Your families are fantastic and JD and I could have spent the rest of the evening hanging out with everyone. Have fun on your honeymoon…but have more fun saving lives and making a positive impact on the medical profession.

S o, I'll be out of town until next Tuesday for a trip that's half business, half pleasure, and half visiting my not-so-secret industry crushes, The Boutwell's (okay, I know that didn't make sense, but please cut me some slack...I shot two weddings this weekend, I have yet to pack my bag, and I'm flying out in just a few hours!). Doug and Chenin are hosting a photography seminar in Seattle and I'm SO excited for the amazing things I plan on learning. You see, I first met the Boutwell's a while back when I worked on this Simple Photo Minute episode, and I've been totally okay admitting my unfledging love for their work. And to make things better, they're some of the coolest people you'll ever meet!
|

| From Seattle, I'm flying to Santa Barbara for a wedding (where my beautiful and amazing and talented and life-saver of a husband will meet me) and should be back in action by Tuesday, June 26. Please forgive any delay in email or blogging as I'm unsure of my internet accessibility. |

Happy Father's Day, Papi!
|

I just wanted to give a shout out to my wonderful father today. Although I'm shooting a wedding and can't be there with my family, I have to say that without a doubt my dad is the WORLD'S BEST FATHER.
Last Thursday I took him out to dinner. I told him he could pick anywhere he'd like to and order whatever he wanted because the tab was on me. We spent three hours talking and enjoying an awesome meal. When it came time to pay the bill, I proudly slapped down my credit card--you know, to show him what a big girl I've become--but when the waiter came to pick up the bill, he informed me that the credit card machine had just broken and he was accepting cash only. What?!? Who carried around cash anymore?!
Apparently, my father still carries cash.
So, instead of the delicious meal being covered by his most favorite daughter for Father's Day, he paid. I guess some things never change. He's taken very good care of me since he first held me in his chocolate-colored arms and he constinues to do the same today.
I love you, papi! :) |
