The Workshop, June 2009

A couple days ago, I hosted The Workshop here in Orange County. I was beyond blessed to be joined by 20 of the most amazing photographers from around the United States and Canada, and I'm STILL on a high from meeting them. This group was utterly fabulous and the bonds they made are amazing. Unbeknownst to me, a large group went out to dinner the night before The Workshop in Newport Beach and hung out late into the night. By the time they arrived on Tuesday, they were like kids at Summer Camp…and I was the nagging counselor. With crumpled cargo shorts.

The day was better than I could have expected and there were moments when we just lounged in the sun and spoke about who we were as people, not photographers. And THAT was highlight of my day. I've encountered 20 spectacular people, and I'm honored to call them peers.

If you'd like to be the first to know about the next workshop, be sure to sign up for my newsletter, as I'll be making the announcement soon! Here are a few snapshots of the day…

Whenever I attend a workshop, I always come home and complain about the lack of nutritious food options…so JD made sure everyone had yummy snacks and delicious food all day. I love him. I know, I know….LAME! (Hey, Mom, I know you're reading this…thank you for coming to help out…I owe you a foot rub!)

If you've been a long time reader of this blog, you might remember my gorgeous couple from their 2007 wedding, Mark and Tiffany…and, yes, it's totally not fair that they're that good looking! 😉

I need to pause here and take a moment to give a HUUUUUGE shout out to the ever amazing Vivian Tran of All Made Up. She's not only the sweetest, most caring, and kind person you'll meet, this girl is a mover and shaker! She asked if she'd be able to style the shoot (I invited her to do hair and makeup), and after bouncing ideas off each other, she took the ideas and ran. She's amazing and if you're a bride looking for hair and makeup, call Vivian! 🙂

Behind the scenes…yes, that pun was intended! 😉

The morning was rainy and overcast and I was thrilled to work in grey light…in typical OC form, the sun decided to BLAZE in the afternoon! It was almost 100 degrees, but everyone was troopers and rocked it out!

Tiff, I love you and I can't thank you enough for being my client, friend, and model!

Do you see my cowboy boots?! I never shoot without them!

Va Va BLOOM! This gorgeous bouquet was provided by Kristin of The Treasured Petal…she's so talented and when I told her about the theme for the shoot, she rocked out a bouquet filled with feathers, jewels, and a whole bunch of pretty flowers I don't know the names of! 🙂 Thanks, Kris…love ya!

Dear friends…thank you for making me feel so lucky. I walked away from The Workshop feeling blessed and more in love with what I'm able to do with my life. I know the future is bright and you are all destined for great things!! xoxo…J*

P.S. Don't forget about the First OC SmugMug Meet and Greet tonight at 7pm…be there or be square!
