St. Louis Here I Come!
06.23.10
- Photography

Y
esterday JD and I hosted The Workshop here in Orange County and I fell in love with the group. Seriously, sometimes I feel so overwhelmed doing what I love...and meeting such amazing people along the way. More on that later. The only downfall to workshops is that Polo is left alone for most of the day...and can't handle it. He sits perched on a bench by the dining room table and cries for most the day. It's true. Our neighbors say so. And if your heart didn't just break into a THOUSAND MILLION PIECES, you have no heart. There, I said it.

This morning Polo was worried we'd leave him again, so when I put on his leash for the morning walk, he ran out the front door and waited. Patiently.

In other news, I'm incredibly excited to share I'll be speaking in St. Louis this August! Kelly Manno planned the St. Louis Shot Party for August 18, 2010 and she's planned a day full of speakers and a lot of fun! If you're in the area, I'd love to meet you soon! Happy Wednesday!

hen Brandon walked into the studio, I was nervous. I met him and Kristin once before at a photography meeting a couple months before, but when he called to chat about his upcoming wedding day, I was shocked. I'm always shocked when other photographers ask me to shoot their wedding, and Brandon and Kristin weren't an exception. We set up a time to meet and discuss their special day...next thing you know we're laughing and feeling like we've been friends for years.

But that's just Brandon and Kristin. They have that affect on people.

Since then, I'm happy to say our friendship has grown to a point to where dinners are filled with more laughter. And even in silence, there is comfort. I was incredibly honored with Cosmopolitan Bride Magazine in Australia emailed and requested to feature Brandon and Kristin's wedding. It was a delightful surprise and a true honor...

Please forgive the poor scanning job...I--apparently--have a hard time lining images up! :)

I'm incredibly blessed to have such amazing clients (who turn into friends!) in my life and I'm lucky to do what I love.

Happy Tuesday!

Leather Craftsmen Albums
06.21.10
- Photography

I
t's Monday morning and I'm still sick. Oh, I didn't mention I was sick? Well, I AM. Very. And I've been taking almost every natural remedy known to mankind and if another person tells me to gargle with garlic cloves and apple vinegar--so help me lord--I will cough on him. Clovey breath and all. I actually resorted to swallowing green cough medicine. Should I repeat that last part?! GREEN.

In more exciting news, I received a pretty hefty delivery of Leather Craftsmen albums...woohoo! It's not unusual for me to have phone conversations with prospective clients who aren't local and in light of an upcoming conversation (Hi Giselle!), I decided to update my online photos. Like always, I love when my clients receive their albums, as there's nothing better than an album as their first heirloom. I've been using Leather Craftsmen since the inception of my business and I can't thank them enough for always taking such great care of my clients.

It just so happens that all the albums ordered were black, but I also happen to think it's classic...here are 8x10, 12x12, and 11x14 wedding albums...

A sample spread from Michele and Emin's 8x10 wedding album...

The 11x14 and the 12x12 albums are basically the same, but some clients like the vertical style, and others prefer the square...

Here are a couple 12x12 sample spreads from Amy and Will's wedding album...

Many thanks to Amy at Albumesque for doing such a great job with the designs...

Here is Monique and Mike's 8x8 Guest Sign In album...to see more Engagement and Guest Sign In albums, I also blogged about it HERE.

I'm so, so excited for the following little album...it's actually a 5x5 mini album! It's uber cute! I custom ordered it from Leather Craftsmen because Erica wanted an extra small album. Her fiance travels a bit, and she wanted to make sure he could just tuck the album anywhere and easily jet. I love the way it came out!

Here you can see the size difference between the 8x8 engagement album, and the 5x5 boudoir album...and, of course, the boxes. I just love the boxes with my logo embossed on the side...it's the small things that count...

And, like always, if you're new to Leather Craftsmen, you can receive a 50% Discount for your first print&bind sample album if you use the Jasmine50StudioSample. Also, if you're a new client, you can also receive a 15% Discount for your first print&bind client album if you use Jasmine15Discount. For further questions, you can always contact my good friend Ira Gershoff...he's amazing at walking you through the album process! ira@leathercraftsmen.com

Happy Monday!

H
ere's a random fact: I'll likely ask for your opinion, then argue with you about it. But here's the kicker...I'm arguing because I WANT YOU TO CONVINCE ME. Most of the time, I'm feeling ehhh about a situation and I need help deciding what I should do. So I'll ask you. Then you'll give your input. Then I'll ask why. Give me reasons! Defend your stance! Persuade me! Fight...fight...fight!

My life is like a college football chant. With pedicures. And glitter.

In other news, I'm SO excited to join the 2010 WPPI ROADSHOW. I'll be speaking in three cities and I'm incredibly honored to join such an amazing team around the United States connect with photographers. Hollllllla! I'm speaking in Seattle, Chicago, and Washington DC, so if you'd like to join me on one of the tour stops, I'd be happy to meet you. And who knows, maybe we can exchange football chants. AND THEN I'LL ASK YOU WHY.

Grace : Anytime
06.17.10
- Anytime

I
didn't know how to write this post. I don't know how to write this post. Most of time I write a story about the person I'm photographing from an outsider's perspective, but Grace didn't let me. Every time I asked her questions to help me later write a blog post, she deflected. It's your blog, she said. Grace explained she didn't feel like she had anything to say. That her life has been brief and the story simple. I try explaining she can speak volumes, that her words are powerful because of their simplicity. Grace shakes her bald head, raises her 15-year-old palm, and disagrees. Very teenageresque.

I've known Grace, well, forever. She's best friends with my little sister, Zoe. Seven months ago, we received news doctors discovered tumors in Grace's body. A lot of tumors. She's been scheduled for 19 rounds of aggressive chemotherapy and radiation...and then doctors will reassess the situation. A situation that leaves everyone begging God for answers.

But Monday wasn't about answers. It was about Grace's photoshoot. An opportunity to showcase her beauty, joy, and unbreakable spirit. It's my hope Grace sees a different version of herself in these images...a girl with a story to tell and a chance to appreciate life's beautiful moments.

Grace loves all things fashion, so she brought along her favorite books and magazines...

Grace, you're beautiful. So incredibly beautiful.

My sister, Zoe, came along to the shoot to offer Grace support and coaching...

...I couldn't tell if they were laughing with me...or at me...

The light during the shoot was simply spectacular...

After a quick outfit change, Grace was in the mood for photos...and a little music...

Grace tried to turn her camera on me....uhh, no thank you! ;)

My favorite shot of the day. Because Graces reminds me to live each day. Out loud. And to appreciate my health...and say I love you all the time...and to laugh at every chance possible....

Happy Thursday!
