Wizard of Ahhhhs
07.31.07
- Personal

I don't know when it started exactly. But I love it.

When I first started shooting professionally, I'd return from a wedding completely wiped out. My legs ached and my feet pulsed from walking for eight to nine hours straight. My good friend Greg Bumatay granted me the awesome opportunity to second shoot with him consistently when I first started which was great for gaining experience, but totally did a number on my feet.

After every wedding, I'd go home and plop on the couch and, like clockwork, JD would squeeze lotion into his hands and massage my feet. Being so tired from shooting, the only thing I could manage to mutter was Ahhhhh. It was such a treat after a long day...and, yes, I realize I'm totally spoiled.

These past couple of weeks having been absolutely insane for the both of us and I've been shooting a ton...which means I've been getting a lot of massages, and I've had to also give a few in return too! ;)

JD will be out of town on a business trip until Thursday night, but he made sure things were taken care before he left...he stocked the fridge with everything I need so I can focus on editing and making sure my business is staying on track, cleaned every room (sans the bathroom...he doesn't "do toilets"), and he rubbed my feet last night while I indulged in reality tv (just kidding mom and dad...I totally just watch National Geographic and the History Channel!). To make things even better, our amazing dog Polo gets a little action too...the two of us will lay on our backs and get a massage simultaneously. I promise, I'm not the Dog Whisperer or anything, but I can hear Polo saying Ahhhhh.

So, yes, Dorothy had Toto and they made their way to visit the Wizard of Oz. And, well, I have Polo and we somehow managed to find our way to the Wizard of Ahhhhs too! :)

This is Polo hiding in our closet...whenever JD leaves, Polo becomes melancholy and will find solace by JD's ties...I think it's cute! :D

Tiffany and Mark : Wedding

H
e held a glass of champagne and microphone in his left hand and precariously balanced his Blackberry with his right hand. As the ballroom sat in silence, Mark toasted his beautiful bride. He cautiously read from the small illuminated screen while Tiffany sat at the sweetheart table and basked in his adoration as he ended his speech. It’s been said, Mark spoke into the mic while shifting his weight from one foot to the other, that a man should not choose his wife based on whether he can live with her, but whether he can live without her…and, Tiffany, I can’t live without you…I love you. And with that, champagne glasses clinked and cheers proffered.

Mark and Tiffany initially met in the seventh grade and were smitten. However, it wasn’t until their junior year of high school when they dated exclusively. Tiffany saw Mark again at a swim meet and—while Tiffany states she fell in love with his personality and charm—Mark thinks the sight of him in Speedos most definitely secured her affection.

They spent their afternoon preparing to see each other for their wedding and upon first glance, their smiles never disappeared for the duration of their wedding. The entire day was orchestrated by the fabulous Anneken Design and the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach served as a gorgeous wedding backdrop, with The Orchid Boutique adding the beautiful floral details.

As the raucous sounds of laughter and clinking glasses filled the air, Mark—oblivious and uncaring to those around him—raised his champagne filled glass and tipped it toward Tiffany, who sat across the large Huntington Ballroom. She smiled and, in that moment, the two of them shared a slice of time together, away from others and completely for themselves.

Mark and Tiffany, I hope you’re having fun in Kauai! I’m blessed to have met you and have our friendship grow. I’m honored to have documented your wedding day and I have to let you know that everything was impeccable…the details, the vibe, and, more importantly, the love. Enjoy your time together and I can’t wait to hear about all the fun you had! Much Love…J*

Mark sent Tiffany an adorable card and a heartfelt message....

They rode from the church to the wedding reception in a classic Rolls Royce...so awesome!

The groom and his boys looked quite dapper....

...The entire wedding party was quite fabulous too!

Just an overview of the beautiful transformation Anneken and her team accomplished...and one stinkin' amazing cake by Great Dane Baking Company...it was outta control!

Nancy and James : Tea Ceremony

L
ast night JD and I headed to Los Angeles for James and Nancy's Korean Tea Ceremony. I love documenting cultural sacraments that accompany traditional American weddings, so photographing their ceremony was a blast! JD and I have photographed a few Korean tea ceremonies before, but last night was the first time we ate Korean food with their guests...we don't know what we ate, but it was all really yummy! :)

I'm off to shoot a lovely wedding today and then headed to James and Nancy's fabulous wedding tomorrow...I'm super excited because both brides paid accute attention to details, they couples are FUN, and the planned events are going to be amazing!

Here's a sneak peek into their beautiful tea ceremony...

At the encouragement/taunting of their friends, they wanted Nancy and James to take a stoic picture, much like their great, great ancestors. They couldn't hold their faces straight but for one, single frame...the rest of the pictures are of Nancy and James rolling in laughter :)

Dear Dane Sanders...

Thanks for coming along and shooting for a little while after Gabriel and Carlie's ceremony. It was an honor to have you come along for the fun, especially since you rocked the mic as the officiant. I can't wait for the day when we can shoot together again. However, there will have to be some ground rules laid out if you'd like to join me and JD during a shoot.

1* Please only shoot unflattering images of me...because, well...the ones you took of me were just way hot. I mean, the fisheye does so much for my boyish figure. Really, you made me want to pitch a tent in the gym and reside there until further notice :)

2* When I'm sprawled out on the floor...please take tons of pictures of me! Nothing says Professional Photographer On The Loose than the spread eagle.

And...

3* Remind me to never wear white on a wedding day. Yeah, twigs and rocks embedding in my shirt didn't make for the comfiest of evenings.

On a more serious note, thank you for joining JD and I...you added extra fun and I can't wait to do it again.
Sincerely,
Jasmine*

Join Me for Happy Hour TODAY

Last night my stomach flip-flopped a few times before going to bed.

What if I'm there all by myself...with no one to talk to?! I asked JD this question like I was headed to kindergarten for the first time. Or a birthday party I planned for myself. I made him promise that if no one showed up for Blu Domain's Happy Hour TODAY at NOON (PST), he'd log on and ask me questions. However, I told him he should only ask me questions I'm confident answering. So asking how to change a tire is off limits?...What about washing dishes--yeah, that one's way off limits, right?

If you'd like to hang out and chat, please feel free to log onto Blu's Blog and turn the party out...my good friends [b]ecker and Jesh hosted Happy Hour for the past couple of days so hopefully they answered all the technical stuff and we can just talk about my amazing dog, all things sugar, and life. Because, well, if you don't come, I'll be chatting with my husband...about tire changing. Or dish washing.

And that's so not fun :)

EDIT: THANK YOU to EVERYONE who stopped by to say hello. I'm incredbly humbled and I thank you for your interest in my business. A special and warm thank you must go to Kailee, Aundrea, and the entire Blu Domain team for allowing me to share. Much Love.... J*
