Free To Succeed Tour : Dallas

ast night was a first for me. I have one word: WHATABURGER. The tour bus made a stop at the ungodly hour of midnight for dinner. Yes, dinner. The stop was originally just for Brett to get a bite to eat, but because the rest of us have will power comprised of the strength of wet noodles, we discovered the glory that is WHATABURGER. Thank you. Thank you, Austin, for exposing me to Texas toast, mustard on a grilled cheese, and making me workout twice as long this morning to repeat for my caloric transgressions.

We’re in Dallas now, but I’ll be posting pictures from the Austin show last night a little bit later today, so stop on by again! :)

Well, I received two pieces of bummer news today, so I was in a funk. But, like any good American girl, I rallied back with a little retail therapy at Northpark Mall in Dallas. It was a like a home away from home! A special thanks goes to the girls at Intermix for cheering me up and furthering confirming my love for this city!

Free To Succeed Tour : Austin

S
o it happened like this: We challenged each other to an arm wrestling competition, and I won. Then we had a thumb war. And I won again. We then had a mean round of Ro-Sham-Bo, and I demolished him. That’s when DJ started crying and I felt badly. So I let him stay in the master suite. Men!

In other travel news, we’re somewhere in Texas right now—close to Austin and adjacent to a river of sorts. I went running this morning; it was beautiful smelling water and mulch, and hearing the sounds of the pathway crunch from the pressure of my pace. I’m looking forward to seeing more of Austin today, although I don’t think we’ll make it into the city until it’s time for the tour.

Speaking of the tour, I want to give a shout out to all the fabulous photographers who came out to hear the Free to Succeed Tour! Individually and collectively, they rocked my world! I met such amazing people and the feedback was awesome…I can’t wait to see what these people are going to do with their lives, businesses, and future!

Here are a few images as provided by the tour photographer, Kenny Kim…I didn’t even bring my real camera, so most of the legit pictures will be provided by him! Definitely check out his blog for more images and a slideshow!

This picture cracked me up! Of course it’s totally deceiving because there were a TON of people who wanted to talk to DJ, but Kenny snapped this picture at an inopportune moment! :)

The ever amazing Rodrigo was on hand displaying the fabulous Couture Books...

The lovely people at Couture provided samples of some of my work, so last night was my first time seeing them in their finished state...

The room was packed with 95+ photographers...and these Houstonians seriously rock! :)

Free To Succeed Tour : Houston, Day Two

I
n case anyone is wondering, Houston has decided to shed a little grace on me today. The humidity isn’t as bad as yesterday and, for that, I’m grateful. And I’m grateful for air-conditioned hotel gyms. And I’m thankful for oatmeal with Splenda. And I’m thankful for my friends. And I’m thankful for beginning this tour with God’s grace.

This morning, the Showit Crew got our first peek at the tour bus and all I could do was laugh. Because, really, that’s what I do when all else fails. I just laugh.

The rest of the day will be spent fine-tuning my presentation with David Jay and then we’re officially launching the tour tonight! Holllllla!

I’ll be updating with pictures and daily updates, but here’s a few that caused me to laugh out loud. Because, really, that’s what I do when all else fails…

And just in case I ever wondered if living on a tour bus for four weeks was a good idea, here's a blatant sign that I'm here to stay...

**UPDATED TO ADD**
Here's a few pictures from the inside of the bus, taken by my good friend, Kenny Kim...

This is my reaction seeing the pictures on the bus...yes, I'm laughing...

Here I am laughing again for what looks like no apparent reason...

The master suite...

The starting Showit Crew...

Free To Succeed Tour : Houston

I
departed the plane and was greeted by the most overwhelming pang of heat. Ever. I was literally swallowed in a bubble of hotness. Even after retrieving my luggage from the baggage claim, I couldn’t really bring myself to walk outside. I tried my best to hail a cab from inside the Houston airport, but was unsuccessful. Can’t Texas cabbies see through concrete walls?!

I arrived to the hotel and literally ran inside to avoid portions of my face melting off onto the hot concrete. Ruby red slippers or not, I was mellllllllting.

I met up with David Jay for lunch and we discussed what our lives were going to look like for the next few weeks—a little crazy, a mix of joy, and a lot of fun! Even though I could’ve spent the entire afternoon viewing Houston from the air-conditioned restaurant, I needed a nap like nobody’s business. I slept two hours last night, so my eyelids were raging war against my brain. Eyelids 1, Brain 0.

I woke in time for dinner and met the bus crew for some good TexMex…and, yes, the flour tortillas at Lupe Tortilla definitely lived up to the hype.

I’ll be blogging the trip everyday and adding pictures as things happen, so be sure to check back for updates. And in case anyone is wondering, I’ll be visiting the LuLuLemon store here in Houston…sorry, JD, when this cat’s away, she’s definitely gonna play…with the credit card! ;)
