Megan and Brent : Engagement

S
he stood outside of the Mission with the sun shining on her dark brown locks of hair and the rays of light only magnified her intense brown eyes as she looked to Brent. They waited to enter the San Juan Capistrano Mission together and later strolled through the sienna-colored porticos hand-in-hand. Although they live walking distance from the Mission, Brent turned to Megan and said, I haven’t been here since the fourth grade. She offers an askance glance and laughs when she tells him she visited just last week. With her camera.

Megan is an artist, now working primarily as a graphic designer, who has always loved photography, even owning a personal darkroom and processing her own film. Many years later she’s able to incorporate her digital pictures into graphic designs, which has proven a successful marriage of her talents. As they walk along the dirt path, with Brent’s arm tied tightly around her waist, Megan knows she’ll have an equally successful marriage to the man of her dreams beginning next September.

I’m SO excited to be shooting Megan and Brent’s wedding! As we walked along the streets of San Juan Capistrano together, I was immediately struck with their love for each other and for their families. They have a wonderful day planned with amazing details at a great venue…I couldn't ask for more! :) I know we’re going to have a blast shooting again along the Old Town streets next month!

I'm really, really blessed to have my clients' trust...when I asked Megan and Brent if they'd mind laying on a parking garage floor, they happily agreed. *sigh* How can I NOT love them!?! ;)

I
n just three and half months, my lil’ blog has come a long way. And I’m happy to say that just now, it passed the 1,000 comments marker. Woohoo! :)

I know it may sound lame and trite, but I love comments. I like getting to know people via my blog and I also like knowing there are people out there who read it. Besides my mother, that is.

So, this is just a small way to say THANK YOU to my blog readers, and a special YOU.ROCK.MY.WORLD to those who regularly leave messages. Three lucky blog commentors will be getting iTunes Gift Cards as a small token of my appreciation.

Lucky Commentor 1,000 : Mike Larson
Top Two Blog Commentors: David Baxter of Ohana Photography and Nicole Green of Nicole Green Photography.

**I really don't know what this belt-buckle is all about, but when I typed in "1,000" on Google, this is what appeared...it's tacky, but I LOVE it! So, now me and this belt-buckle have something in common...we broke 1,000!**

Bourne Again

- Personal

Dear Jason Bourne...

I Love You.

Your Pretend Girlfriend,
Jasmine*

All joking aside, this past weekend was wonderful. Yesterday JD and I pledged to stay away from our computers for the entire day and just hung out. No work, no email, no web. Just fun.

**I kinda cheated with my email a few times...but it was all super important...sort of** :)

We spent the morning at church, the afternoon by the pool, went to the movies, and spent the evening at one of our favorite restaurants talking business. Every year we sit down together and talk about our goals, both personal and professional. I'm really excited for 2008 because I'm planning a major restructuring of my business, a new website, many cool things planned, and a little more time spent on life. I'm incredibly blessed to do what I love, but I can honestly say I'm spread quite thin right now...I'm already planning for next year to be different and I'm excited for what the future holds.

And I'm stoked for my business to become Bourne Again.

Katie and John : Engagement

He seemed to think I had something special, Katie continued on. John jumped in immediately and rephrased, No, no…what she had was magic…sheer magic. Katie laughed a bit and rolled her eyes, but she was visibly flattered.

Katie and John met in 2004, just around the time the Boston Red Sox made it to the World Championship Series. John, hailing from Boston, watched every game and cheered along as any natural Bostonian does. When Katie entered his life, two of the most amazing things were happening: 1. John was falling in love; and 2. The Red Sox were going to break the long-standing Yankee curse. For him, life couldn’t be sweeter.

Every time I’d go over to watch the game, he’s make me sit on a certain side of the couch, Katie happily recounted, And if I wanted to get a drink, he’d run to the kitchen and get it for me because he was so afraid that if I left the room, something bad would happen. John remained adamant about Katie’s lucky presence and even went as far to say that when the Sox were down, as soon as Katie arrived to his place and took her spot on the couch, the boys would rally from behind.

The Boston Red Sox ended up winning the 2004 World Championship Series, but John knows he walked away with a far greater gift than a golden championship ring encrusted with diamonds. He now has bragging rights to a beautiful wife-to-be and wedding band in the near future. And Katie? Well, Katie is blessed because she found a man who sincerely thinks he met Lady Luck herself. That’s pretty much a grand slam couple if you’d ask me.

We headed to China Town for their engagement session and amidst the smells of Kung Pao Chicken and smog, we had a great time hanging out and getting to know each other better. And even though they insisted they were camera shy, I didn't believe it for a second! :) I can’t wait for their wedding this September…we’re going to have a blast!

Katie said she wanted a couple funkier pictures...so I tried a little sumthang different...

Katie is an artist, so when it came time to create their monogrammed logo, this was just too appropriate...

And I'd be remiss not to include a picture of the couple in their Red Sox paraphanalia...although I am quite partial to the Anaheim Angels ;)

Nancy and James : Wedding

The halls are much smaller than I remember, Nancy said about her church as she descended the Hummer limo. Nancy and a few of her bridesmaids attended First Congregational Church in Los Angeles from elementary to high school. Little did she know she would return a few years later for her very own wedding. Her husband-to-be was tucked away in a small mahogany room, just passed the concrete portico and the waxed floors of the school, covered with large black diamonds shined to perfection.

James and Nancy communicated all day through love notes passed on from family members and friends. She reminded him of her unfledging love and, while he did the same, he also sent three other notes reminding her to wear deodorant and not forget to brush her teeth because they had a big kiss coming up. Every time Nancy received a new note--all strategically given to her at a certain time--she laughed even before reading it. That's how much she loves him. She laughs before the punchline.

Their wedding was a gala in every sense of the word. The church looked like it had walked itself from Florence, Italy and took permanent residence in Downtown Los Angeles. It was draped in gorgeous flowers and the between the sounds of the quartet and the smells of the flowers, guests might have expected an angel to walk down the aisle. The guests were not disappointed. James cried as he saw his angel walk down the aisle and into his arms.

The rest of the evening was spent at the inordinately amazing Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Downtown Los Angeles. Every detail was thought about and planned for with such precision and care and the reception unfolded beautifully. As Nancy made her way to the second balcony of the Pavilion to toss her bouquet to the awaiting ladies below, she said, My wedding is just perfect...I couldn't have dreamed of a more beautiful day! She smiled and waved from up top and gingerly flung the bouquet to her friends...hoping that one day they too could find someone as fabulous as her new husband.

Nancy and James...I have no words to thank you. Your wedding was beyond gorgeous, but--more than that--your friends and families were just wonderful. JD had an awesome time chilling with James and his boys and I couldn't have had more fun cruising in the limo with Nancy...eating Korean sushi! :) I totally think I'm part Korean now! Being at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion meant SO much to me...when I was 12-years-old, my father was given tickets to see Les Miserables there at DCP and I remember thinking that I was the luckiest girl alive to be sitting in such a beautiful place watching a Broadway show. Many years later, I sat in the same venue and, again, felt like the luckiest girl in the world. You enable me to do what I love and in the process make new friends. I have no words to thank you. Much Love...J*

I have to admit I knew it was going to be a great day when I saw these lovely ladies...

A special thanks goes to Annaha Song from Weddings By Annaha and Karen ( annahasmiles@gmail.com ) for all her hard work. She did a fantastic job coordinating the day and making sure everything was organized and keeping everyone happy! :)

The perfect way to end their First Dance...

The entire evening guests were clinking their glasses as a way to get the couple to kiss. The 976th time it occurred, Nancy took matters into her own hands...perhaps she was tired of kissing James... ;)

A different angle of the couple watching a slideshow...

I love this moment as James dries Nancy's tears during the best man's toast...
