Friday Randomness

Around ten months ago, I bought a whisk. It was a pretty whisk, heavy handle and shiny and all that fancy cooking stuff. I finally used it yesterday to stir soup I made for lunch. The directions stipulated the use of a whisk and I was all, I'm SO HAPPY I BOUGHT THIS FANCY WHISK, and proceeded to unwrap it from it's packaging. Umm, yes, I bought a whisk that sat idle for ten months. That right there? Story of my life.

In more random news, today is Friday so I thought I'd do another Random Friday post. I'm way creative with naming these posts, eh?
*The Dress.
A few people asked where I got the dress I wore for my WPPI presentation. If you can believe it, the dress is four years old. Let's just call it VINTAGE for fancy's sake. I had a fashion crisis a week before leaving to Vegas when I realized I had nothing to wear, even after a few shopping trips. I may or may not have thrown a pity party. JD looked up from his computer and insisted I had something in my closet. He was right. I found the dress and added a black leather wrap belt I bought in Italy and slipped on a pair of platform heels. Not only was JD happy to be right, he was happy not to look at yet another shopping receipt.

*Apps.
I probably shouldn't admit I only have two apps on my iphone. Two. I always think I'm ready to download the next! newest! coolest! app, but I have commitment issues and I hate disorganization. There are people, like JD, who freely download apps (he can tune your guitar, get a taxi, read a restaurant review in 1.5 seconds) and it makes me jealous.

*Laguna Beach.
I figure if I say things out loud, they might actually happen. Or at least I can pinpoint a moment in history when I wished for something to come to fruition, so if/when it does, it'll act as a benchmark between a dream and reality. So, here it goes: I wish/hope/dream to own a home in Laguna Beach with ocean views. Whew…there…I said it. I even started a savings fund for it:

It's kind of embarrassing to put it out here like this, but what have I got to lose? Nothing. What do I have to gain? Everything. One day I hope to read this post and see the inception of a dream. Hopefully my seed of hope will grow into a tree of reality. If not, nothing's stopping me from renting a Winnebago and parking it right next to the sand.

*Gorge.
Let's get one thing straight: I make up words. In fact, I've made up so many words I speak a new language called Jasminese. I've had more than a few readers leave comments and send emails letting me know they despise when I use this word to describe my clients. Guess what? I don't care. One person even went as far as sending me the definition of gorge (a narrow passage through land), but I suspect he missed the point. Gorge is an abbreviation of Gorgeous. It's not a technical term, but I use it because why use a two-syllable word when one will do?
You should be thankful you don't live with me because I might ask for a sam (sandwich), say you're perf (perfect) when it arrives, describe the meal as reedic (ridiculously awesome), tell you I'm feeling gnar (gnarly) because I'm full, and insist you're amaze (amazing) and thoughtful.
And just because I can…GORGE!

Happy Friday!
