Pelican Hill Wedding : Jamie + Eric

Her sister said to introduce herself and nudged her toward the living room. Jamie gave Emily an ambivalent look, but obliged her younger sister's request. As soon as Jamie walked in the crowded room, her eyes fell on Eric and she lost her breath. Kind, charming, and handsome, his smile left her with butterflies in her stomach as she walked back to Emily. Both being in relationships, Jamie and Eric exchanged pleasantries at the end of the night and went their own way.

Five years later, Jamie moved from Chicago to Los Angeles for a fresh start (and to look for love, she jokingly said). While in the City of Dreams, Jamie met a girl who insisted Jamie needed to meet her friend, Eric. One thing led to another and Jamie discovered that this–this!–was the same Eric she met in Chicago in her sister's home. The butterflies again took flight.

When Eric and Jamie met in Los Angeles for their first date, they picked up as if no time had passed at all. The fates intervened for this kismet match and they promised to remain faithful to each other. Last week they invited their closest family and friends to Pelican Hill Resort to witness their love and commitment.

Jamie and Eric…it was an honor seeing your love flourish even stronger on your wedding day. You're two of the nicest souls and you are perfect for each other. I loved seeing your family again and meeting new members as well, so thank you for welcoming us with open arms. I wish you nothing but the best in Bali and I hope you're enjoying every second of your honeymoon! Much Love and Appreciation… j*

The day began with Jamie carefully inspecting her wedding day details…speaking of details, she focused on them. Everything down to her Christian Dior shoes, Jamie was on top of it all!

While I photographed the bride, JD was with Eric as his father helped him with last-minute touches…seeing him interact with his loving father was a beautiful thing to document throughout the wedding day.

I was incredibly excited to document their First Look. They opted to see each other before the ceremony and it provided us with extra time for wedding photos around Pelican Hill

…and when people ask why I love First Looks so much, Eric's reaction says it all…just look at the way he adores his wife to be!

Many thanks to our assistant, Kendra, for capturing this photo during the First Look…

Just before the wedding ceremony, Eric was more than ready to sign the Ketubah and make Jamie his bride!

This means she accepted. Obvs.

The light at Pelican Hill made for a perfect day for wedding photos…it was simply divine.

JD captured the following photo…and I loved it because it really showed Eric and his dad have a special bond…

I love the look on Eric's face as he sees his bride to me…as well as everyone else's looks. Some might remember Emily and D.J. (on the right)…I photographed their wedding three years ago and it was a total honor to work with their family again. They are some of the nicest, most considerate, and downright amazing people. Love them…really.

In Jewish tradition, the bride is suppose to walk around the groom seven times…but Jamie's veil wasn't exactly cooperating…

JD captured this moment just after they were announced husband and wife…

…and I captured this one just seconds later…

So here's where things get overwhelmingly awesome. Working with a stellar wedding creative team is always amazing, but I was lucky enough to be surrounded by a group of passionate, talented, and hard-working professionals who made the wedding day sheer perfection. Many, many thanks to Jeannie Savage with Details, Details, Fernanda, and Bloombox Designs for doing what's never been done before…

While I finished bride and groom photos, the creative team worked at lightening speed to transform the lawn at Pelican Hill from the ceremony site to the reception site…

The complete reception transformation had to be done in less than 45 minutes and everyone worked overtime to ensure it was flawless…it was the first time this has ever been done at Pelican Hill, but the strength of the team pulled it off in spades.

We had about 10 minutes to photograph all the details before we lost light, but Jeannie made sure we had what we needed to make it work…so thankful for her!

This is the final result and it was, truly, a delight to photograph at sunset…

The First Dance…

The perfect end to a perfect day…
