San Francisco City Hall Elopement : Christine+Paul

She cancelled their first date. Just like that, she emailed Paul and declined his invitation. They planned to meet for a drink, but after thinking things through, Christine vacillated between having her interest piqued to absolute ludicrousness of meeting a stranger for a cocktail. They met online, but beyond his witty emails and shared foodie passions, they were strangers, connected by a thin string called the Internet.

It's just a drink, he emailed. Nothing more.

Christine met Paul for a cocktail (secretly approving her bar suggestion) in Atlanta, a place they called home for years. Their lives could have intersected a thousand times before, but it wasn't until they sat at a table and unfolded in each other's presence that the thin string became a rope, tying them together. Bounding their love for eternity.

Christine and Paul, as your official wedding witness and now friend, I couldn't be more honored to have see your love first-hand. You lead beautiful lives full of chance, candor, and endless possibilities of loving in your own way. It's beautiful to see and I'm honored to experience the percolation of your togetherness. Much Love and Appreciation… j*

Christine and Paul eloped and had a wedding at San Francisco City Hall. With full support from friends and family, they decided to have a ceremony with just to two of them and start their lives together, with full focus on the marriage, not just a wedding.

Elopements at City Hall are unique in that so many people are getting married, but the system in place is efficient and easy. After signing documents in the clerk's office, we waited 25 minutes for the ceremony to begin in the rotunda. During this time, we roamed the halls and enjoyed the amazing San Francisco light streaming in from nearby windows.

I met Christine for the first time as she ascended the steps of San Francisco City Hall. Her dress, her pixie hair cut, her red lips…everything about her oozed effortless beauty, inside and out.

Christine and Paul made it a point to have fun on their wedding day. They're quirky and carefree, so when they posed creatively outside of City Hall, I was more than happy to document their joy…

Walking to their wedding ceremony…

I absolutely loved the wedding ceremony. The Justice of the Peace was extraordinarily kind, patient, and warm. His words were sincere and the best part is that he made Christine and Paul laugh and fall even more in love with each other.

It's their thing. Every couple has a thing (whether it's collecting shot glasses from trips, or adding a yearly ornament to their Christmas tree), and somehow their mutual love for donuts has become what they do and a symbol of who they are. Every new city they visit, they find the best donut shop and indulge. Chicago, New York, California…bacon maple, passionfruit coconut, glazed. Every city is defined by doughy, sugary confections. Instead of a wedding cake, Christine and Paul opted to share their first donut as husband and wife at Dynamo Donuts in San Francisco…it couldn't have been more perfect.

Christine and Paul are foodies. Like, legit foodies. They have extensive backgrounds in culinary world, so it seemed natural to explore San Francisco Farmer's Market. Together they tasted cheese, bought flowers, and roamed the aisles finding new types of pears.

San Francisco is a beautiful city, rich with culture and class. And–after their elopement–a city is filled with more love. Christine and Paul spent the rest of the weekend driving down the coast (absolutely sure to stop for sushi in Sausalito) and creating memories to last them a lifetime.

Happy Tuesday!
