Tonight we're planning on staying home and passing out candy. This is different than year's prior when we hid upstairs with our lights turned off. It's not like I'm anti-Halloween, it's just that I never quite remember to stock up on good sweets. One year I forgot about early-arriving trick-or-treaters and felt guilty for opening the door. In despair, I handed over a bag of Doritos and fruit snacks.

Today I'm stocked up and even bought a special holiday candy platter. Polo will be my official elephant helper although he has mixed feelings about it…
