Newport Beach Engagement : Megan+Whit

They met in Washington DC, running in similar political circles, but not quite overlapping. That is, until, one fated night when Whit and his friend were at a bar and Whit was subjected to a myriad of female introductions. His friend was determined to be a matchmaker that night, but Whit made polite conversation with each girl and moved on. Then Whit was introduced to Megan, a blue-eyed beauty with a stunning smile.

Megan smiled slightly, but quickly said goodbye. She claimed his appearance reminded her of the bearded Unabomber, so Megan slipped to the opposite side of the room. Yes, Whit had a beard–and he admitted he wasn't exactly in proper dating attire–but he remained determined to catch her attention.

Three months later, Megan found herself at a birthday party and was introduced to a guy who looked strangely familiar…and then realized the clean shaven, trim cut, and charming smile belong to the same guy she met months earlier. Whit and Megan chatted, exchanged numbers and went on their first date a week later. The rest, they say, is history.

I'm incredibly excited to shoot Megan and Whit's wedding because if their engagement session was any indication of the fun we'll have, the day will be all kinds of epic. We started the engagement shoot at Megan and Whit's home in Newport Beach. The relaxed duo loves wine, snuggling together on the couch, and spending time on the water. I decided to simply follow their lives and what resulted was a true depiction of their love.

Megan and Whit adopted their beloved dog, Aubrey, in Washington DC, but she's made herself right at home wherever they're together. She's a spunky pup who made the shoot extra delightful.

Due to their love of all things water, Megan and Whit wanted photos at her parents' home in Newport Beach. Located on the water, it boasts stunning views of sunset, so they enjoyed champagne and a gorgeous view…

It's hard to believe Whit ever donned a substantial beard and rocked a scruffy look…especially when he looks so good wearing pink pants! 😉

It was overcast all day, but the gray skies proved to be a stunning source of light…

Megan, you are a stunner. Like, really. (Special thanks to Beauty by Berit for makeup)

To make things even more exciting, I cannot wait to work with Heather of LVL Events…they have such a stellar team and they are planning to completely transform the Parker Palm Springs and I can't wait to document it all!

Toward the end of the session, the sun peeked out and the sunset light kissed their beautiful faces…
