Listing Your Strengths and Weaknesses

He asked me if I have ever listed my strengths and weaknesses. I rolled my eyes as if to indicate, well, yes, obviously. He asked me again and I responded that while I hadn't listed them per se, I did think about them often. My friend asked me to write them down. He promised the simple act of seeing myself outside of myself may add insight into the business decisions I make moving forward.

So I did. And it looked something like this…

Accepting your strengths and weaknesses can only be done once you figure out what they are. This might seem like a duh, obviously thing to say, but writing them down can offer insight into the aspects of your life you should give more weight. Am I the best person to assess the feasibility of a new project? No, not at all (namely because I think every new project I pursue will end in disaster). This is obviously a weakness. Should I pour my energy into listening more and helping others? Yes, a lot more. It's a strength and when I focus on my strengths, I'm happier and have more purpose.

If you have time over the weekend, take a few minutes to make this list. It's the first step in finding deeper satisfaction in how you approach business and the allocation of your time.
