Pelican Hill Wedding : Kim+Cris

They go on picnics, they ride bikes on the beach, they host themed parties for their friends, but–on a rainy day in Newport Beach–Kim and Cris were the center of attention. So often they give to others and care beyond themselves, but on their wedding day, they were surrounded by the power of love.

Kim sat in the Pelican Hill Resort bridal suite and asked if it was raining and instantly her bridesmaids piled in front of the window and gave a rousing chorus of No's. Because that's what good friends do. They only let you see the best in any situation. Undeterred by the unfriendly weather, Kim counted the minutes before seeing her best friend and groom-to-be, Cris.

Cris waited for Kim by the Rotunda under a canopy of gray and when they melted into each others' arms, they let the wind swirl around them. On their wedding day, just like the hundreds of days before it, they knew they could face anything as long as they remained connected at the heart…and it was only made better when the inclusion of their friends, family, and a rowdy band to dance the night away.

Kim and Cris, thank you for the honor of documenting your love. Your friends and families made us feel lucky to get to know you on a deeper level and we are privileged to have seen you through their eyes. I wish you the best as you navigate life (and your amazing parties) together. Much Love and Appreciation… j*

The beautiful day started with classic, coastal vibes…a perfect nod to a Southern California wedding…

Kim's light pink wedding details were personalized, sentimental, and chic…

Kim was anxious to get into her Anna Maier wedding dress…she knew Cris would love it…

Speaking of Cris, here he waited to see his future wife…

…and this was her reaction to her groom…

I love when couples opt to see each other before the ceremony because it leaves plenty of time for wedding photos, but also a lot of latitude should the weather decide to have a mind of its own…here Kim and Cris make the best of a cold, gray day by warming up with their love…

The iconic Rotunda at Pelican Hill Resort makes for gorgeous wedding photos…

Oh, Kim, you are beyond. Really.

Nothing made Cris glow more than seeing his bride walk down the aisle…

…and Kim just radiated pure joy…

Kim's parents were some of the kindest, most thoughtful people…and they couldn't have been happier to make Cris their son…

Kim's dad surprised her with a confetti cannon to explode just as they had their first kiss…SO fun!

Kim's reaction to her dad's surprise was priceless…

The love, the surprise, and the joy made the walk down the Pelican Hill wedding aisle a total dream…

As the sun set and the dark clouds rolled in, we snuck away for a few more photos around Pelican Hill Resort

Many, many thanks to Coordinator: Platinum Weddings by Kerrie and Nisie's Enchanted Florist for working incredibly hard to ensure the day unfolded without a hitch. They were flexible, kind, and worked really fast to ensure the weather didn't hamper the wedding glow…

By the time the guests were warm and tucked inside, the couple enjoyed their first dance…

…and ended it with a passionate dip!

Kim told me her friends loved to dance and party…and they lived up to her expectations…

I'll end on this note because when you're a bride surrounded by everyone you love–in a rousing rendition of Journey's Don't Stop Believin'–you can't help but feel invincible…

Many thanks to the amazing team who made this day come to life…
